To All:
I am on the road once again bound for The Arkansas Blues and Heritage Festival (AKA King Biscuit Festival)!!  I would like to encourage everyone to come down to Helena, AR this weekend for three full days of amazing, FREE music.  The King Biscuit is one of the few blues festivals that is free to the public!

Upon my return, I will be working to complete my NEW CD that is now available for pre-order and for sponsorship.  It will be shipped in the late summer for those who pre-order with an early fall release date.  If you'd like to support this NEW CD, please contact me at valeriejune@gmail.com for details.

Thank you to all fans, friends, and family for your support!!

Howdy Friends, Neighbors, and Family,

I begin recording a new record just for the King Biscuit Festival tonight.  Although it has been a while since I last posted news about my music, I have been busy playing shows and writing songs.  On July 31, 2007, I purchased a wonderful new guitar, Clyde.  Clyde is a beautiful Gibson Blues King, and he plays as smooth as water pures.  I have not been able to pry myself away from him for anything other than mandatory task.  Just as sure as I have worked to save money to buy this amazing instrument, I will also maintain focus on recording, recording and more recording!!!  I have so many songs now, and only about 15 of them are recorded.  I am forever thankful to everyone for your support of my music!

The shows I have done over the last few months have been extraordinary.  From Otherland's Cafe to The Brooks Museum of Art, I have thoroughly enjoyed every performance.  I have also been accompanied by a wonderful mandolin player, Nathan McMahan, and cello player, Megan White.  The sound of my music is ever evolving, and they definitely let me know we are moving in the right direction.  The Siren's Night at Neil's Bar and Grill was by far the most inspirational show I have played all year.  I was moved by the voices of Rebecca Almond, Holly Cole, and JoJo Jefferies.  Miracles are in the oven!!  Magic is in the air!!

In my down time from music, I have been working on several paintings which will be sold at the Cooper-Young Festival  and online soon.

I was extremely happy to be mentioned in the August 2007 issue of Memphis Magazine as "...a coffeehouse regular who blends folk, soul, and even ancient country elements...who has emerged as one of the scene's best kept secrets."

In the News

From the Helena Daily World: June 'Blues' in October

Valerie June, a blues artist, is originally from what she calls "nowhere." A small town in Tennessee between Jackson and Humboldt is where she was raised but she currently lives in Memphis.

What makes her story so interesting is her enthusiasm for her art. She has only been playing for a year, but was involved for about five years with another band. After watching her ex-husband play guitar, she picked up one, and found that she had memorized the chords, and needed no formal training to play. This year was her first time to play at the blues festival and also her first time witnessing the thousands that crowd Helena-West Helena.
